Great food...great service But more importantly...GREAT PEOPLE from the nice family of owners, to all the staff!

my daughter and I use large power wheelchairs. We went here on a busy weekend but staff never made us feel unwelcome or that we were in way while waiting for table. The wait staff was friendly and our food arrived quickly. Great experience

I live in the Weehawken Heights and the River View Diner is right down the cliff. I've driven past many times. But my son ate there recently and enjoyed himself so I was eager to see firsthand. Between the rowdy brunch bars and twee coffee houses in Hoboken, the hokey pancake "factories" in Edgewater and the old school diners in Hackensack is this establishment. We were greeted pleasantly and directed to an open booth in the front of the house. We were promptly served coffee and placed our orders. I ordered the rarely seen grits with my omelette, hot and tasty with the addition of some salt and syrup. Jon had a large order of fluffy scrambled eggs and a variety of breakfast meats. He wolfed that down with crispy home fries and toast. You'll notice immediately how immaculately clean the place is, trimmed in dark woods and comfortable red covered seats and chairs. Instead of being assaulted by too loud popular music or groups of families with young children celebrating birthdays the music was gentle and the diners sophisticated and enjoying easy conversation. This is just the kind of diner I'd been looking for.

Twice in one week I had an amazing experience here. Drove past unknown times and finally stopped in. Should have done it much sooner. Service, AMAZING, everyone is genuinely nice and very quick to say hello, thank you or pull out your chair. Food, WOW, WOW!! My wife and I ordered, we purposely timed it. (Eggs, french toast, sausage, home fries and toast) Literally under 4 minutes, YES 4 MINUTES!!!! Hot, plentiful and very good. Coffee, great blend and as much as you wanted without someone hovering. Will we be back, ABSOLUTELY!

First time here. There is no actual "river view" but that didn't bother me. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is clean. I would say -- an upscale diner -- as opposed to a typical NJ greasy spoon kind of place. Service was great, fast and friendly. I had the London Broil dinner special and it was very good. French Onion Soup was ok but nothing special. I prefer when the cheese is melted and charred a bit ... not just melted. Also, I'm not sure what kind of cheese they used, maybe provolone. I prefer swiss and/or gruyere. Anyway, their French Onion was just okay. My baked potato was not good, to be honest. It was more like a reheated baked potato, that had never been fully cooked. I would definitely go again but next time I would order something different and get fries or mashed potatoes. The sign out front says, "Open 24 Hours" but they told us since Covid hit, they are not open 24 hours anymore. I'm guessing lack of help.

One of the cleanest restaurants/diners I've ever stepped foot into. The food was very good and came out very fast. Service was also super quick and very friendly. I was very happy with the chicken parm with French fries. In good ole diner fashion I added mozzarella on my fries with a side of gravy. It was delicious. I'd be happy to come back again, I was pretty surprised to see that they weren't more busy around dinner time. I'll be sure to stop in more often considering it's one of the better diners in the area.

Have driven past this diner for forever and a half and finally got a chance to eat here! My friend took me for lunch on a Sunday and this place was busy! By the time we left there was a wait. Staff is SUPER DUPER friendly. My friend has been a long time customer and they treat her like family. Super sweet. Before we got seated we passed by some pastries which looked bomb. I'll have to check them out next time. We were greeted immediately upon seating by our server and we ordered our coffee. I ordered the Mexican Omelette (tomato, peppers, jalapeño, cheddar cheese) with the side of home fries. And we shared pancakes together. The food came out in a flash! So quick! The omelette was cooked great and they didn't skimp out in the cheese. Their home fries were yummy too. Nice and crispy! The pancakes were good too! Huge and fluffy. I didn't need to add butter or anything. Tasted great as is. Our server was great with refilling our coffee and water throughout our whole visit. All staff members were wearing masks and the tables were fairly apart. The booths were all filled and the middle tables were as well. I didn't feel uncomfortable though since it's pretty spacey. Definitely your typical homey diner. I have no complaints!
